On April 11 the Amherst Cinema will host the premiere of NELA, a 35-minute experimental documentary by award winning video artist and Amherst College professor of Theater and Dance, Wendy Woodson. This film is about Bosnian composer Nela Trifkovic who was granted refugee status in Australia after narrowly escaping her place of birth. As the camera follows Ms. Trifkovic and other anonymous travelers through the streets of Melbourne Australia, questions and images of belonging and displacement are brought into focus through Ms. Trifkovic’s personal story and her original music.
Director Wendy Woodson. 37 mins.
