George Clooney plays Ryan, a man who has perfected a dubious but widely applicable skill in a world of downsizing corporations: He fires people. But firing is a harsh word, so he doesn’t use it unless he has to, and makes his dismissals sound like the beginning of a glorious new tomorrow.  He really believes in what he's doing. Or at the very least, he believes in a life without attachments, in which he drifts from airport lounge to hotel room while racking up an inhuman number of frequent-flier miles and returning to his sparsely appointed Omaha apartment only when need requires. He even manages to strike up romance with a fellow perpetual traveler in the discrete moments between take-off and landing.  It's a perfect, if fleeting existence, until his whole world is threatened by a fresh-out-of-college co-worker who introduces a video-conferencing technique to Ryan's boss that would take the travel out of mass dismissals. To train her, and hopefully prove her wrong, Clooney must take her on the road. From writer-director Jason Reitman (JUNO), with Vera Farmiga, Anna Kendrick and Jason Bateman.
