SILAS KOPF WORK BENEFITS AMHERST CINEMA!

Bid Dec. 9 – 16 on a one-of-a-kind marquetry panel created by internationally known marquetry artist Silas Kopf!    All proceeds benefit Amherst Cinema.

Mr. Kopf, whose work is found in museums and private collections around the world, has created a 37” x 27” panel depicting the iconic Pleasant Street Theater.   Estimated value:  $10,000.

Mr. Kopf was instrumental in the successful effort to reopen the Pleasant Street Theater in 2008 under the nonprofit umbrella of the Amherst Cinema.  Thanks in large part to his efforts and to an outpouring of support from film lovers all over the world, the Pleasant Street Theater continued its historic run as a destination for art house film for over four more years.

“The Pleasant Street Theater held a special place in my heart,” said Kopf.  “I suspect many others in the region have dear memories of seeing movies there.  I donated this marquetry panel to the Amherst Cinema as a way of commemorating our area’s commitment to offer the highest caliber film experience possible.”

The original work will be on display Dec. 10 – 16 in R. Michelson Galleries, 132 Main, Northampton, MA

A full-size photograph of the panel is on display in the Amherst Cinema lobby.
