Upcoming In-Person

In BEHIND THE SHIELD, acclaimed journalist Dave Zirin of The Nation magazine and MSNBC.com tackles the myth that America’s most popular and influential sports league was somehow free of politics before Colin Kaepernick and other players took a knee. Dave Zirin joins us in person for a post-screening discussion with Howard Bryant of NPR and ESPN. Free to Amherst Cinema Members!
Wed, 12/7
When a circus tent goes up outside of his apartment, a disabled filmmaker must confront the legacy of the Freak Show and whether his past autobiographical filmmaking has fit into its tradition. With the camera pointed away from himself, he captures the personal and poetic from his wheelchair.
Thu, 12/8
Filmed at the National Portrait Gallery in London, with additional interviews from experts and curators from MoMA, the National Gallery of Art, and Musée d’Orsay, and correspondence from the artist himself, the film takes audiences to the places Cézanne lived and worked. It sheds light on an artist who is perhaps one of the least known (and yet most important) of all the Impressionists.
Sat, 12/10
Free to Amherst Cinema Members. Anja returns to the remote forest area where her father disappeared without a trace when she was eight years old. Her sudden appearance triggers a brutal murder. Disturbances in the forest floor put her on the trail of deeper layers of guilt and crime—but will her investigation trigger a catastrophe?
