Virtual Cinema FAQ

We are offering curated virtual screenings of new films via our Virtual Cinema program. These are films that would otherwise be playing on Amherst Cinema's screens and in theaters across the country, many of which are unavailable on other streaming platforms.

Your virtual ticket purchase during this time not only gets you access to a wonderful film in your home, but offers critical support for Amherst Cinema. Thank you!

Looking for help? You can call our office Monday through Friday from 10am to 2pm at (413) 253-2547, or submit a Virtual Cinema assistance request here.

HOW DOES VIRTUAL CINEMA WORK?

You can access these films from our Virtual Cinema page. First, click the film that interests you. Then, click the "Watch" button. You'll be taken to a page where you can rent that film while supporting Amherst Cinema.

The films we offer are generally available through one of two platforms: AmherstCinemaAtHome.org or Agile Ticketing. Ticket price, terms of rental, and viewing methods may differ title by title, and are available on the individual film pages.

I'M AN AMHERST CINEMA MEMBER. IS THERE A MEMBER PRICE?

Member prices are now available for the majority of our Virtual Cinema films!

For films playing through AmherstCinemaAtHome.org, Amherst Cinema Members will receive a rotating monthly discount code, emailed on the first of each month. This code takes $3 off any film available through AmherstCinemaAtHome.org, and can be used for as many films as you like.

Additionally, some films offered by Agile Ticketing through our main website, such as those in our Bellwether series, will either have Member discounts or be entirely free to Members.

Do note that select films screened through outside links, such as Kino Marquee or Vimeo, do not have available Member discounts.

I JUST PURCHASED THE FILM. HOW DO I WATCH IT?

All films are available to watch via your browser, and some may also be available on apps for streaming devices. Once you've completed the purchase, your web browser should display instructions on how to watch the film. In most cases, you'll be able to start watching immediately after checking out. Additionally, you should receive an email receipt that also contains viewing instructions.

Please note that different services require separate logins. For example, if you have rented a film via AmherstCinemaAtHome.org, you will have to log in from that URL, not at AmherstCinema.org.

If you are still having issues, please follow any contact instructions provided via the email receipt (tech support contact information is often at the bottom of the email).

You can also call our office at (413) 253-2547 Monday through Friday from 10am to 2pm, or submit an assistance request here.

CAN I USE GIFT CARDS FOR VIRTUAL SCREENING ROOM FILMS?

Gift cards may not be used for films available through AmherstCinemaAtHome.org.

HOW DO I GET THESE FILMS ON MY TV / FIRESTICK / CHROMECAST / ROKU / ETC?

Some Virtual Cinema films are available on apps for your streaming device such as Roku, Firestick, Chromecast, or Apple TV. Instructions for utilizing any available apps will generally be provided to you once you've paid for the film.

In addition to using apps, there may also be ways to mirror your laptop or phone to your television. Because each person's home viewing setup is unique, we cannot offer support for this, but completing an internet search with what devices you have available is generally helpful.

If your laptop or home computer has an HDMI port, connecting to your television using an HDMI cable may also be an easy way to get an image from your computer to your TV screen.
