In May 2016, Amherst Cinema received the prestigious NEPR Arts & Humanities Award. The award recognizes the contributions of local talent, and brings greater public awareness to the critical role played by musicians, artists, dancers, actors, writers and teachers in western New England.

Amherst Cinema is one of only 23 theaters nationwide recognized by the Sundance Institute Art House Project for meeting high standards including: quality programming, deep involvement with their local communities, strong financial standing, and recognition from their peers and their communities.

In November 2015, Amherst Cinema received an official citation in honor of our 10th Anniversary, presented by Representative Ellen Story and Senator Stan Rosenberg.
