In an alternate reality Oakland, California, telemarketer Cassius Green (Lakeith Stanfield) finds himself in a macabre universe after he discovers a magical key that leads to material glory.

As Green's career begins to take off, his friends and co-workers organize a protest against corporate oppression. Cassius soon falls under the spell of Steve Lift (Armie Hammer), a cocaine-snorting CEO who offers him a salary beyond his wildest dreams.

This bonkers, surreal trip of a movie from first-time director Boots Riley (half of acclaimed hip hop duo The Coup) also stars Tessa Thompson, Terry Crews, Danny Glover, Omari Hardwick, Steven Yeun, and David Cross.

"If Mike Judge’s OFFICE SPACE and Robert Downey Sr.’s PUTNEY SWOPE hooked up after a night of bingeing on hallucinogens, Marxist theory and the novels of Paul Beatty and Colson Whitehead, the offspring might look something like this." A.O. Scott, New York Times. A New York Times Critic's Pick!
