In partnership with the Goethe-Institut Boston, Amherst Cinema is proud to present New Films From Germany, a continuing series with a special focus on the work of emerging directors and featuring award-winning films rarely shown outside Europe.

All films are free to Amherst Cinema Members.

In this comedy-drama based on a true story, Rabiye Kurnaz, a housewife and loving mother from Bremen, hires a human rights lawyer to free her son from Guantanamo Bay, bringing them all the way to the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C.

Julius is an eloquent young museum attendant loved by his friends, colleagues and his girlfriend. One day he invites his fellow workers to join him for a sailing trip on his aristocratic family’s boat. But something goes wrong. Julius is not who he seems to be. Jöns Jönsson's second feature is a clever, increasingly uneasy tale of an affable young man's compulsion to self-invent that goes much further than the odd exaggeration.
