Please note that the Small Group Ticketed Screenings program has now closed.
Buying tickets
How do I buy tickets?
All ticketing will be done in advance and online while our physical box office remains closed. Films offered for Small Group Ticketed Screenings are available through this page. All film pages will have a link to available showtimes. Once you've selected an available showtime, you will need to purchase tickets for everyone in your group in that transaction. After you complete your purchase, that showtime will be "sold out" and no one else will be able to buy tickets.
How many people can I bring?
Sales are limited to a single group of up to ten people. A screening can have as few as one and as many as ten but no greater.
Can I use my Member discount?
Yes! If you are a current Member, you'll be able to choose between general admission and Member tickets when you check out online. Please note that no other discounts or ticket types are available at this time.
Can I use an Amherst Cinema gift card?
Yes, gift cards will work for purchasing tickets online.
Can I redeem a movie pass?
At this point, we cannot accept any passes for these screenings.
What if I need to change the number of attendees in my group?
If you've already purchased your tickets, that showtime will be "sold out" and you won't be able to add tickets to your order without reaching out to us. Please note that our limit of ten attendees per group is firm. Please email info@amherstcinema.org or call us at (413) 253-2547 x0, M-F, 10am-2pm and we can work with you to amend your order.
At the theater
Will there be other people in the theater?
During your showtime, no other members of the public will enter the theater. To ensure safety and quality standards, Cinema staff may have reason to access the theater and will do so in accordance with health and safety protocols. There may be other people in different theaters and staff in the lobby. All theaters are equipped with discrete HVAC systems, so you are not sharing air from other theaters during your screening.
Will your concession stand be open?
Yes! Our concession stand will be open with a limited menu. You can purchase items in-person before your film.
Can I get my Member popcorn?
Yes! Current Members can redeem their concessions benefits for applicable items including popcorn, soda, coffee, and tea.

What can I expect when I arrive?
After you check in with our staff and make any concessions purchases, our staff will direct you to your theater. The theater will have been thoroughly cleaned and you will be able to choose any seat in the house. Please limit your group to one person in your bathroom at a time.
Do I have to wear a mask?
Yes. Masks completely covering the mouth and nose must be worn at all times while at Amherst Cinema. Your mask may only be removed while eating or drinking in your theater seat.
Other questions
What is the difference between Virtual Cinema and Small Group Ticketed Screenings?
Virtual Cinema refers to films that are streaming for at-home viewing. Small group ticketed screenings take place in the theater at our brick-and-mortar location here at 28 Amity St, Amherst, MA. We may at times offer films both in-person and virtually, but many of the films may only be offered one way or the other due to restrictions from the distributors. Learn more about out Virtual Cinema here.
