Now playing in Virtual Cinema
From 1968 to 1973, the public television variety show SOUL!, guided by the enigmatic producer and host Ellis Haizlip, offered an unfiltered, uncompromising celebration of Black literature, poetry, music, and politics—voices that had few other options for national exposure, and, as a result, found the program an improbable place to call home.

TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES
Opens 9/25 in Virtual Cinema
Amherst Cinema is excited to host a conversation between directors Marnie Ellen Hertzler and Hannah Jayanti on the subject of speculative documentary filmmaking. Hertzler's CRESTONE follows a group of SoundCloud rappers living a solitary, post-societal existence in the desert town of Crestone, Colorado. Jayanti's TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES is subtly set in a near future when space travel has begun, in the shadow of the world's first spaceport.
Both films play in the Amherst Cinema Virtual Cinema as part of the Bellwether series, showcasing striking and important new films and engaging artists and filmgoers in discussion. Bellwether films are free to Amherst Cinema Members.
