Virtual Events

Join us online for live Q&As, panel discussions, and seminars to enrich our Virtual Cinema lineup. We hope you'll join us for these exciting opportunities to connect and converse virtually with filmmakers, experts, and film subjects.

Many Q&As will be conducted live at our Facebook Page. For these Facebook Live events, no pre-registration is necessary—simply visit our page at the time of the discussion to watch, and ask any questions through the chat.

Other events take place through Zoom or other video services and require a ticket purchase. Details on how to access each event can be found by clicking through to the film page.

Wednesday, June 23, 7pmFacebook Live Q&A with directors Emily Packer, Lesley Steele, Faye Ruiz, and Olive Nwosu.

WHO WILL START ANOTHER FIRE is a collection of nine films by emerging filmmakers from underrepresented communities around the world.

Each of these stories is personal and distinctly told, but unified by themes of rebirth and growth. These films reject the idea of art for art's sake and do not exist in self-designed aesthetic vacuums. Their creation represents a necessary reckoning for their makers and so perhaps, too, their viewers.

Silent film historian/accompanist Ben Model brings the experience of the silent movie show to the live-streaming medium. Hosting each show live from his living room, Ben greets you along with a remote welcome from one of us here at Amherst Cinema. Seated at his 1918 Baldwin baby grand piano, he then gives a brief introduction before accompanying the film live during the stream.

On Wednesday, June 30, in Ben's third live virtual event for Amherst Cinema, he'll accompany three gems directed by and starring Charlie Chaplin: THE ADVENTURER, THE IMMIGRANT, and THE RINK.
